Because of the close relationship to the sinus, many times when a tooth is extracted, it will leave a communication between the mouth and the sinus. Therefore it is important to follow these instructions:

  • Take prescriptions as directed.  These will consist of some combination of the following, depending on the individual case:

Sudafed 60 mg.

Claritin

Cleocin 150 mg.

One tab 3x a day

One dose daily

One tab 4x a day

 

 

 

Afrin Nasal Spray

Flonase

Flagyl 500 mg.

1 or 2 sprays

2 sprays in each

One tab 4x a day

each nostril 3x/day

nostril daily

 

 

 

 

Augmentin 875 mg

Ceclor 250 mg.

Duracef 500 mg.

One tab 2x a day

Every 8 hours

One tab 2x a day

  • Keep from blowing your nose for two weeks, but if you must sneeze or blow your nose, keep your mouth open.
  • Do not sneeze or cause pressure.
  • Do not use a straw or smoke a pipe.
  • Drink clear fluids, then full fluids, then eat soft foods for several days- chewing on the opposite side as much as possible.
  • Do not rinse the mouth vigorously for several days.
  • Stitches must remain for 10-14 days.
  • Avoid milk products.
